Inspired by St. Martin of Tours’ message of love and service to others and our school’s vision of forming student leaders who exemplify faith in action, we offer an Outdoor Leadership Retreat for students in grades 6-8. This one-day retreat provides students an opportunity to participate in activities that challenge them personally and help them develop team building and leadership skills.
During the retreat students participate in several collaborative activities designed to incorporate physical and mental challenges. Student teams explore risk-taking, leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, goal setting, communication, team building, and coaching. Activities emphasize problem solving from different perspectives. They demonstrate the importance of working together as a team to view a problem, generate a strategy to solve the problem, and carry through with a solution.
Retreat highlights include:
Traditional Low Team Building course that challenges every member of the group to participate, presenting opportunities to learn more about each other
High Ropes Challenge Course: These safe and fun challenges enhance accountability, trust, and, support within a team. Conducted within a context of group encouragement and support, these teambuilding events often lead participants to a heightened awareness of self and to an increase in confidence and self-esteem.
