What Is “Close The Gap”?
“Close the Gap” is our annual appeal. Every St. Martin of Tours School family has been asked to participate in “Close the Gap.”
Why Is “Close The Gap” Necessary?
In an effort to keep tuition low, SMT operates at a gap reflecting the difference between tuition and fees and the cost of educating an SMT student. For the 2016-2017 school year, the funding gap is estimated to be $1,700 per student.
In order to sustain excellence, SMT is requesting a $1,500 tax-deductible donation from each school family. We encourage families who are blessed with more resources to consider a pledge in excess of our per-family request. Our ultimate goal is to achieve 100% participation.
When Should I Make My Pledge?
Please return your pledges as soon as possible. You may elect to pay the pledge after January for a 2017 tax credit but we would still like to have your pledge form by as soon as possible.
Can I Add My Pledge To My Smart Tuition Account?
Yes, you can pledge now and and schedule your contributions over time or even at a later date through the SMART Tuition program.
Can I Pay Through The SMT Portal?
Yes, you can contribute online through our giving portal.
Yes, we gladly accept employer matching fund contributions.
What Does the “Close The Gap” Fund Replace?
The “Close the Gap” fund eliminates the following fundraisers:
- Magazine Drive
- Gift Wrap Drive
- Christmas Wreath Sales
- Fathers’ Club Dues
- Building Fund
- Hoop-a-thon (Not the event, just the fundraising aspect.)
If The Fathers’ Club Dues Are Eliminated How Will The Teacher Christmas Gifts Be Funded?
Teacher gifts will now be funded from the “Close the Gap” drive. A portion of monies received will be allocated to the Fathers’ Club for teacher gifts. These gifts are an important part of attracting, retaining, and rewarding our outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff.
