All Palisades community members: our hearts go out to you and we are praying for your families. We have families within our community that have lost their homes in this tragic fire. If your child's school was destroyed by the fire, we are prepared to streamline and expedite enrollment process for qualified displaced K-8 students. Our staff is ready to assist with paperwork and any necessary documentation. Our school psychologist is available to offer emotional support and guidance to students and families. And we will provide students with the supplies they need to begin their studies right away. We have a loving school community and would be honored to come along side and support you at this time.

At SMT, our primary school students enjoy magical experiences filled with excitement, adventure, discovery, and creativity. We offer students excellent learning opportunities within a modern, fun, and well-resourced classroom. Our carefully designed curriculum meets the individual needs and interests of our students children through engaging, hands-on activities.
The areas of learning that we focus on are:
- Personal Social and Emotional Development - making friendships, self-confidence, managing feelings and behaviors
- Communication and Language - Listening and attention, understanding and speaking
- Physical Development - Gross and Fine Motor Skill Development
- Literacy - Reading and Writing
- Numeracy - Numbers, Shapes, Space, and Measurement are emphasized in Singapore Math
- Understanding the World - People and communities, the world, technology
- Fine Arts and Design - Exploring and using materials
- Science - Understanding the world through hands-on activities
Learning to read and write is key to children accessing the wider curriculum at school. Reading and writing start when your child begins - looking at picture books, learning phonics, and letter formation. We encourage a love of reading and we celebrate reading at every opportunity. In the early years, reading is taught through phonics comprehension, fluency, and expression. In addition to our science based reading curriculum, students are also exposed to programs such as Great Books and Accelerated Reader. Children learn through both whole-class and small group instruction.
Math is taught through rigorous and engaging content provided by Singapore Math. Your child will learn to manipulate numbers and understand their value while developing an appreciation for distance, time, money, and spatial comprehension. Students always move from the concrete with hands-on activities to abstract problem-solving.
