We believe STEAM education is important because it:
St. Martin of Tours is blessed to have both a Science Lab and a STEAM Innovation Lab. One of SMT’s goals is to prepare the next generation to contribute in all areas of the technological workforce as educators, scientists, graphic artists, mathematicians, and engineers. Logic and critical thinking skills are incorporated into daily instruction, and student exploration is encouraged in both lab classes and our middle school science fair program. SMT students have an exceptional record of achievement at both the county and state levels, winning at the national, state, and county levels. Our hands-on curriculum incorporates Lego robotics, probe-ware, drones, etc. into exciting inquiry-based lessons guaranteed to spark the curiosity of all students.
At SMT, we use technology as a powerful tool to enhance student achievement and engagement. Classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and a dedicated iPad cart. A state-of-the-art keyboard lab enhances music instruction. In addition, the school’s fully equipped computer lab with its 35 iMac computers allows teachers to give direct instruction in skills such as coding and to use the lab in other curricular areas.
